Outreach Programs - Outreach is the expression of our faith to our community and beyond.

dot COMMUNITY USE OF BUILDING
No cost use of building for 40 community groups on a weekly, monthly or annual basis.

dot NEW YEAR'S DAY DINNER
Provide a festive meal at St. Andrew's for street people when the Soup Kitchen is closed.

dot "OUT OF THE COLD" PROGRAM
Provides shelter in the winter for homeless people in our downtown community. St. Andrew’s is committed to run an overflow site in conjunction with Trinity United Church on Monday nights. The program runs from the beginning of November until the end of March. This is an opportunity to serve God by helping the poorest of the poor.

dot SOCIAL ENDOWMENT FUND
A box is placed in Iona Hall during Coffee Hour each Sunday morning to collect donations for the Social Endowment Fund. These funds go directly to community people in need.

dot VICTORIA DAY BBQ
Provides a relaxed outdoor meal for the downtown people when the Soup Kitchen is closed.

dot THRIFT SHOP
Previously used clothing is sold at minimal cost. Open Wednesday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

dot STEWART AWARD FOR TEACHER EXCELLENCE
Recognition of excellence in the field of Education within Waterloo County at the Secondary School level. Two awards presented annually.

dot SOLO PROGRAM
Provides the facility and support to the Youth in Transition program of Family and Children Services.

dot HOUSE OF FRIENDSHIP
Care and Share program - Food hamper project. Preparation and serving of Weekend Meals, and the Annual Potato Blitz in the month of February.

dot SOUP KITCHEN
We provide turkeys and hams for special seasonal dinners at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

dot MARY'S PLACE
We support the work of Mary's Place through our Local Outreach Committee, various fundraising initiatives and representation on Mary's Place Faith Community Committee.

dot COMMUNITY CARE PROGRAMS
Assistance for people in need.

dot FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE to:
Interfaith Counselling Centre,
Mary's place,
Anselma House,
ROOF,
Anna Kaljas Houses.

dot T.V. MINISTRY
Broadcasting Sunday morning worship to all of Southern Ontario and several border US States on the first and third Sundays of each month.

dot PRESBYTERIAN SHARING
Contributing through our weekly givings to the projects of the National Church throughout the world.

dot CORN SHARE
Providing financial support to buy seeds for planting. The crop is then sold and money is matched at a ratio of 4:1 for world hunger.

dot FRANCISCO COLL SCHOOL
Raising funds through special events to pay the annual salary of the teacher working in a school located in Guatemala City.

dot GUATEMALA PROJECT
A hands-on project has been undertaken by adults and youth of the congregation. It involves travelling to Guatemala and working on a specific bulding project.
Church School Children have raised money to purchase goats to provide milk for several families in Guatemala.

Pastoral Care - provides a caring ministry to the congregation.

dot CRIB CONNECTION
Families of newly baptized babies are visited on significant occasions up to the child's second birthday.

dot ELDERS
Regular quarterly visits by elders offer an opportunity to build a relationship with the members of the congregation, answer questions, and discussing concerns.

dot FUNERAL FOLLOW-UP
Families receive support immediately following the funeral of a family member.

dot GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
Six week sessions are offered several times throughout the year to those who have been bereaved more than three months previously.

dot HOSPITAL VISITING
Trained visitors augment the work of the Minister of Pastoral Care by visiting with hospital patients.

dot PRAYER CHAIN
Requests for special prayers are given to a committed group of people who regularly pray in response to these requests.

dot STEPHEN MINISTRY
Lay people who have participated in 50 hours of training and are equipped to meet the needs of individuals who are experiencing crisis in their lives.

dot VISITORS IN THE PARISH (VIP)
Lay people commit to a one on one relationship with home bound members of the congregation.

Opportunities For Ministry

St. Andrew's ability to provide the varied programs and Opportunities in Ministry depends largely on the involvement of the Laity in leadership roles.

All members are encouraged to become involved in the ministries of this congregation to the extent that they are able, using their various gifts and skills in satisfying ways. Building relationships through participation can enhance your sense of belonging and make membership within this congregation a meaningful experience.

Additional possibilities for involvement may include:

dot BOARD OF MANAGERS
These individuals are responsible for the financial aspects of the church as well as the care and maintenance of the church property.

dot BOWLING
Each Wednesday evening, the men of the congregation bowl as part of a league.

dot CAMP KUMMONIWANNAGO
Daily volunteers for the summer camp assist in the functioning of this day camp. The Camp Committee works with the camp director to oversee the administration of the camp.

dot COFFEE HOUR COORDINATOR/HOSTS
Two couples are scheduled each week to prepare the coffee served between the two morning services.

dot DINNERS
Preparing dinners for special events provides an opportunity to work with others on a one time event.

dot 40+ Singles Group
All single people are invited to be a part of this social group. Activities are announced in the weekly bulletin.

dot LIBRARY ASSISTANTS
Involvement in this ministry includes assisting with book selection on Sunday mornings as well as the cataloguing of new books.

dot OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
A variety of office tasks provide an opportunity to keep the office running smoothly.

dot SOUND SYSTEM OPERATORS
Operators are trained and scheduled for each Sunday morning service.

dot TEACHING
Training is provided for those involved in all aspects of education.

dot USHERS AND GREETERS
Participants are commited to a schedule that suits their availability.

dot SPECIAL EVENTS
Planning and coordinating of one-time events draws on the skills of many people.

dot WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION
In addition to providing a social contact, this group takes on the responsibility of funeral receptions, lunches for the Noon Hour Recitals, and the Christmas Bazaar.

dot KNITTING FOR ADOPTED BABIES
Sweaters and bonnets are needed for newborns going to their adoptive homes.

dot WEB SITE UPDATING
Assist with keeping the web site information current.
