Hi, my name is Amanda Harrington. I am the new camp director for Camp Kummoniwannago. I am looking forward to a fantastic summer! I thought I’d tell you a little about myself; I am currently in my 3^rd year attending the University of Waterloo in the Recreation and Leisure Honors Program. When I graduate I hope to work full time in programming youth activities, for a not for profit organization. I have been involved in recreation for many years starting with life guarding at 16. I worked for the YMCA in Kingston as their Aquatic Manager, I was in charge of programming youth swimming lesson, hiring staff and making sure the pool activities ran smoothly. When I left the YMCA, I went to work for the Boys and Girls Club in Oshawa; there I was the Assistant Day Camp Supervisor as well as a Pool Supervisor. I realized at that time that recreation and youth programming was the line of work that I was passionate about, I applied to the University of Waterloo and was accepted, so here I am eager to get started on what I’m sure will be another successful camp season. Working at St Andrews’ for Camp K is the direction I want to be heading in, I am looking forward to the challenges and fun that are part of camp life.
