The Rev. Mark Lewis was born in South Wales and came to Canada as a child in 1961 when his father, the Rev. Trevor Lewis, was called to a Presbyterian charge in South-western Ontario. Mark is a graduate of McMaster University, Hamilton, and Knox College, Toronto. He has ministered as a chaplain at Maplehurst Medium Security Prison in Milton, and as a pastoral Minister to a two point charge in Nova Scotia. Mark ministered to Knox, Dunnville for 12 years and at MacNab Street Church, Hamilton for 9 years. During his time in Dunnville, Mark was elected citizen of the year for his extensive volunteer work with the Fire Department, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Canadian Cancer Society and several other organizations.

Mark is a former Convener of the General Assembly Council and was elected Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada in 2002. When he was Moderator, Mark traveled extensively in Africa, the Middle East and across Canada. More recently Mark represented the Presbyterian Church in a KAIROS delegation to Mexico. On his return from Mexico, Mark spent a week in Ottawa with two other national church leaders lobbying the government with respect to Canada's role in NAFTA. Mark is a former Convener of the Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Canada and represents our denomination on the Governing Board of the Canadian Council of Churches. Mark is a member of the Canadian Christian-Jewish Consultation.

Mark is married to Donna Fitzpatrick-Lewis; they have three children Ruth, Anna and Samuel. Ruth is studying Journalism at Mohawk College in Hamilton. Anna is studying Business at Mt. St. Vincent University in Halifax. Samuel is in grade 12. Donna has previously worked as the Director of a health promotion program in Haldimand County and Program Manager of the Lifeline Personal Alert System in the Greater Hamilton Area. Donna recently graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton with a Master of Social Work degree, and is presently employed as a Research Analyst with McMaster.

In his spare time Mark enjoys carpentry, auto mechanics, fishing, singing, song writing, playing his guitar and spending time at his cottage in Nova Scotia.
