A Vital Link to the Church
The Visitor In the Parish program is an important component in our congregation's ministry of pastoral care. The VIP volunteer is a vital link and extension of the life of the congregation for those who are home-bound or alone. It is a contact with the church that is greatly appreciated even if it is only a few times each month.
Knowing there is support and encouragement can make all the difference in someone's life. The most important role of the VIP volunteer is in helping the visited member maintain a place in the life of the congregation when other opportunities for involvement are limited. The VIP is a tangible witness to the visited member that "you still belong and we still care!"
Good Reasons to be a VIP
It is impossible to overstate the significance and importance of personal relationships within the church community. Without these relationships our life in the church would be severely impoverished. Taking an interest in the well-being of others and offering caring friendship is the foundation of Christian community. Ministers, Pastors, or Priests cannot possibly answer this need for the lives of every congregational member. There is no substitute for the benefits derived from the kind of church member visiting which VIP fosters.
It enhances the whole pastoral life of the church. Anyone wanting to contribute some of their time to this ministry will soon discover its value. How Does It Work?
- Member in need of visitation is identified by referral
- Member is contacted regarding VIP program
- VIP volunteer is selected and matched with member to be visited
- Ongoing support provided through VIP group and co-ordinator

Very Special People ![]()
Since 1975 VIP volunteers at St. Andrew's have been sharing in this rich and rewarding ministry of visitation. The entire congregation benefits from such a member to member visitation program. Everyone needs to know that he/she is a valued member of the church family and to personally experience the love and care of the church. Our Visitor in the Parish ministry provides the opportunity for a very special expression of that love and care. Consider becoming a VIP for some very special person in our church family.
