Kitchener church offers families safe place to trick-or-treat
KITCHENER, Ont. — This Halloween, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is the place to be.
The church is hosting its fifth annual Candy Jam on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., giving children a chance to collect free candy and chocolates, show off their costumes and enjoy Halloween activities — all in a safe, indoor environment.
“With treats, colouring pages, activities and carnival-style games, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” said Kaitlyn Pipe, the church’s executive assistant.
Children in costumes can visit 15 themed candy tables throughout the church, featuring everything from Candy Land and Winnie the Pooh to Mario, Lego, Harry Potter and Frozen.
Approximately 700 people registered for Candy Jam in 2025, and organizers hope to welcome even more families this year.
Volunteers from Camp K, an organization connected to St. Andrew’s, will run carnival-style games in Iona Hall.
The church’s Sunday School and Youth programs will provide colouring and seek-and-find sheets for children to enjoy.
“Rain or shine, children can show off their costumes without bundling up in jackets—and families can spend the afternoon making memories together,” said Pipe.
