Musings at St. Andrew's

Last month the Musings I wrote was about the Deacons. Today I would like to talk about another one of the areas that I am involved in as the Pastoral Care Coordinator at St. Andrew's – The Prayer Team.

We do not hold regular meetings, but we are always ready to receive your prayer requests. You can call me or any of the other eleven people on our team and we will send out your request by email to the others. Another way is to call the church (519-578-4430) and leave your prayer request at ext. 216. That works well when the office is closed.

We are a very confidential group of people. We do not share your information or concerns with anybody else. We simply pray by ourselves in our own homes for the requests we have received.  People are free to leave their name but that is not required. We only ask that if you are requesting prayer for someone other than yourself, please get their permission first, or do not share their name. Our team members decide how often they will pray about any given request, and they choose whatever time works best for them to lift up the prayer to God. 

What kinds of things do people ask us to pray about? Anything reasonable is important to God and to us. When I finish typing this Musing, I will be sending out a request to our team for myself, asking them to pray for my cataract surgery tomorrow. It is comforting to know that I will be supported in prayer by our team. Health issues are likely the most common, but certainly not the only requests that we receive.

We welcome your prayers, no matter how trivial or huge they may seem.

We also welcome new people interested in being part of our team. Just give me a call (519 584 2532). If no one answers, please leave your name and number and I will get back to you.  If you do not have a computer, we can hook you up with someone from the team who will phone you when a request comes in. Anyone who is sincere about praying for the needs of others is welcome to be part of St. Andrew's Prayer Team.
