Musings at St. Andrew's

Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Crawford | Interim Moderator

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then we will see face to face.  Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.  And now faith, hope and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.”                                                 1 Corinthians 13: 12-13

I have been thinking and feeling a lot about love this fall.  Maybe it’s the change in weather and the desire to be cozy and cuddled up.  Maybe it’s the three weddings I have been to this fall.  Maybe it is the deeper relationships I have formed with the leadership team at St. Andrews.  Getting to know each of you has been rewarding and I look forward to the journey continuing during this time of transition. Thank you for allowing me to serve Jesus Christ as a leader among you in this season.

My invitation to all of us, as we faithfully seek to live into the future that God has called us to, is to fall in love all over again.  Fall in love with God.  Fall in love with this amazing community.  Fall in love with yourself, because God loves you.  As we grow together, we do so deeply aware of our history.  We know that forgetting the past will not lead us towards God.  We also know that focusing on the past, and allowing it to determine the future, will not lead us towards God.  Rather we need to be informed by the past and be committed to this present moment, living fully in the here and now - then and only then, will we be led towards God.  In this present moment, I invite us to work together to be led by God into our future.  A future that challenges us to reach out in faith sharing the light, love and hope of God with our friends and neighbours.  As we seek to reach out to all God’s people, I invite us to spend time in God’s story and in prayer seeking the Divine.

We continue together by living in the present moment and seeking God’s plan for us now.  May you fall in love anew with the Creator, who lovingly formed you from the dust of the earth, Christ who loves you so much He walks right with you always, and the Holy Spirit who speaks tender words of love in your ears.

Love in Christ,

Jeffrey
